A sociological approach to understanding values gives you the bigger picture. Thinking about your values in isolation is like seeing only one tree in a forest. That tree exists in an ecosystem, and so do you. Looking at your values sociologically highlights their role in your communities.

Jean Oplinger, MCC

With over two decades of coaching experience in top-tier Fortune 50, 100, and 500 companies, and being one of only 1,300 Master Certified Coaches worldwide, Jean is deeply committed to nurturing personal awareness and growth. She is passionate about the transformative power of values understanding. Her inspiration springs from the moments of clarity that arise—the unmistakable 'thunk'—when values are recognized and understood.

Early in her coaching career, Jean recognized that values are the constant drivers in our lives. Yet, with limited tools, resources, and access to coaches who can offer guidance, she saw the challenges involved in values identification. To address this, Jean envisioned a tool to enhance understanding of values. This materialized in 2022 through collaboration with David Allison. Jean and a team of social scientists leveraged his global sociological database of human values to create the Values Identifier—a tool designed to support individuals to identify and understand their values.

David Allison

David is a human values expert, keynote speaker, global researcher, and two-time best-selling author. He is the founder of the Valuegraphics Project, an organization devoted to a simple goal: influencing outcomes with shared human values. David speaks internationally and helps brands use Valuegraphics’ data to engage, motivate, and inspire the people they want to reach.

David coined the term valuegraphics for an entirely new type of predictive insight, which organizations like PayPal, lululemon, Google, and the United Nations Foundation have embraced. His work has been written about in Forbes Magazine, Harvard Business Review, Business Insider, and INC Magazine. The World Economic Forum published his findings, and valuegraphics are now explained in college textbooks used around the world.
